Job Description

The Junior Data Scientist will assist in building various advanced statistical, deterministic, and machine learning models to create behavioral profiling on data features related to the global shipping fleet. The role will involve customer-facing interactions to explain analytical models to stakeholders and assist in articulating model quality to customers.

Requirements

Analytics / Machine Modelling:

• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and possibly SAS
• Experience with standard Python libraries used in machine learning
• Ability to advise on feature accuracy and model reliability
• Skills in deploying models using tools like GitHub, Jenkins, and Sagemaker
• Familiarity with spatial-temporal datasets, preferably in maritime data
• Experience with testing frameworks and model quality
• Knowledge of next-generation infrastructure technologies in analytics

General:

• Passionate about learning and applying open-source technologies
• Collaborative with data engineering and software engineering teams
• Capable of ensuring quality and contributing to open-source technologies
• Ability to drive technology initiatives across data and analytics engineering layers

What We Are Looking For

Essential:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
• At least 12 months experience in a junior data scientist role
• Proficiency in Python, machine learning algorithms, and data mining
• Excellent communication and analytical skills
• Experience in SQL

Desirable:

• Experience with SAS platform and AWS cloud environments
• Master’s degree in related field
• Experience in the Maritime industry or AIS messages
