Location: Columbia, SC

Contract: Temporary, Full-time

Job Description:

WLTX-TV, the TEGNA station in Columbia, SC, is seeking a skilled artistic Photojournalist to create engaging content for TV, social media, and mobile platforms. The ideal candidate should excel in storytelling, possess proficiency in photography and editing tools, and be able to work both independently and in a team. The Photojournalist must be adept at utilizing live news-gathering tools and participate in on-air and live streaming performances when required.

Responsibilities:

  • Passion for capturing video & audio elements for news, sports, features, and documentaries
  • Operate ENG truck or IP video-based live unit when assigned
  • Work solo or in a team for daily news assignments
  • Attend editorial meetings, contribute story ideas
  • Use creative techniques like graphics to enhance stories

Requirements:

  • BA/BS in journalism or related field preferred
  • 2-5 years of newsroom experience
  • Proficiency in photojournalism, editing, and content management
  • Flexible schedule, reliability, dependability
  • Ability to create engaging live shots
  • Active participation in NPPA a plus
  • News judgement, writing, photography, and editing skills
  • Understanding of professional journalism
  • Knowledge of EDIUS or Non-Linear editing system
  • Organizational skills and ability to work under deadlines
  • Calm handling of live breaking news situations
  • Valid driver’s license, ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and occasionally 80 lbs.
