Job Description

The Web Designer at MacPhail is responsible for designing, building, improving, and updating the organization’s website and sub-brand pages. They collaborate with program and marketing staff to ensure an engaging and user-friendly experience while adhering to MacPhail’s design standards. The role also includes updating website content and reviewing SEO.

Requirements

Education: Degree or specialization in computer, interaction, or graphic design with a web emphasis or equivalent experience.

Experience: 1-2 years as a webmaster with graphic design skills shown in a strong portfolio.

Knowledge and Skills: Proficiency in WordPress and Adobe Design Suite, basic HTML understanding, experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, sitemaps, web analytics, SEO, problem-solving, and graphic design skills. Up-to-date with web trends and technologies.

Abilities: Ability to generate creative ideas, collaborate, handle multiple tasks and deadlines under tight deadlines. Flexible schedule for occasional evenings and weekends.

Preferred: Experience with design software like Figma or Sketch, basic understanding of CSS, and JavaScript concepts.

Additional Information

Location: Minneapolis, hybrid eligibility possible.

Hours: Part-time, 20 hours per week.

Reporting to: Marketing Director.

Status: Non-exempt.

Physical Demands: Sitting and typing for up to 4 hours at a time, virtual meetings online for up to 2 hours, infrequent lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs.

Other: Maintain confidentiality, strong communication skills, attention to detail, ability to understand and resolve cross-cultural conflicts effectively.
