Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Section Violinist to join Sinfonia da Camera. As a Section Violinist, you will play a crucial role in creating beautiful music and contributing to the overall musicianship of our ensemble.

The duties include performing as part of the violin section in rehearsals and concerts, practicing independently to prepare for performances, following the direction of the conductor and concertmaster, collaborating with other musicians to achieve a cohesive sound, and attending all scheduled rehearsals and performances.

About Sinfonia da Camera: The orchestra is in residence at The Krannert Center for the Performing Arts and is comprised of University of Illinois faculty, staff, students, and freelance musicians.

Requirements

Skills required for this role include proficiency in playing the violin with a strong command of technique, ability to read sheet music and interpret musical notation accurately, excellent listening skills to blend well with other musicians, and strong communication skills including prompt response to emails.

Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Experience in orchestral performance preferred.

Ability to Commute: Must be able to commute to Urbana, IL 61801.

Work Location: In person.

Other Information

• Auditions are held virtually through YouTube video submission.
• Compensation: Section - $70/2.5 hour service, Principal - $90/2.5 hour service, with travel reimbursement for those outside the Champaign-Urbana region.
• Contract job with a daily pay rate of $70.00.
