Job Description:

Barron’s is seeking a passionate visual storyteller with a deep background in photo research to cover a 6-month maternity leave beginning September 3rd. The Photo Editor will be responsible for finding supporting images for financial and business stories, working as part of a three-person photo team, reporting to the Director of Photography. This full-time hybrid role will be based in NYC, with office presence 3 days per week and coverage of the 8am-4pm shift.

Requirements:

• 5+ years in an editorial department or newsroom role
• Great communication skills
• Excellent journalistic judgment and integrity
• Knowledge of news, politics, finance
• Experience producing different photography genres, especially strong portraiture
• Strong image research and editing skills
• Experience contracting with freelance photographers and agencies, managing contracts and invoices
• Existing network of artists and ability to identify emerging talent
• Attention to detail in matching photos to news relevance and brand style
• Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop required, ability to create photo illustrations and shoot in a studio is a plus
