Job Description
A member of The Ohio State University’s Advancement Marketing and Communications (AMC) department, the Marketing Strategist has primary responsibility for leading the development of a variety of marketing and communication campaigns and tactics delivered across owned channels, particularly focused on efforts that deepen donor commitment to the Wexner Medical Center (WMC). The Strategist will work collaboratively with stakeholders across WMC and is integral in the preparation and execution of the Time and Change: The Ohio State Campaign celebrations.
The role involves articulating copy and design specifications, helping shape creative briefs, and working closely with the WMC project manager to steward initiatives from creation to final delivery at the highest quality. The Marketing Strategist is also responsible for directing creative campaigns in alignment with brand standards while remaining mindful of inclusion, diversity, and accessibility.
This position is a full-time (40 hours/week) temporary role for one year.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, business, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Four (4) years of relevant professional experience in marketing, communications, journalism, business, or a similar field.
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in communications, journalism, business, or a similar field.
- Six to eight (6–8) years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience working in a large, complex organization.
- Experience working in health care, medicine, and/or a public institution.
Duties and Responsibilities
Partnering with stakeholders across WMC: leading development of creative, persuasive, donor-centric marketing and communication campaigns and tactics. This includes:
- Stewarding a wide variety of print, digital, direct mail, and online projects from ideation to delivery.
- Defining target audiences for direct outreach and advising on appropriate channels and formats.
- Collaborating with internal and external creative partners.
- Setting KPIs in support of business, marketing, and engagement objectives.
Writing and editing copy:
- Proofreading for accuracy, fact-checking, and grammar.
- Following brand standards and style guides.
- Managing project briefs and timelines.
Administrative and other duties as assigned.
