Job Description

Our client, a global entertainment conglomerate based in New York, NY, is seeking a Designer - Book Design. This position is a contract role that requires working onsite in New York.

Responsibilities

• Handle making corrections to reprints, preparing jacket mechanicals, and formatting files for production.
• Create layouts and designs for original hardcover books and convert hardcover novels to paperback.
• Present designs to art directors and editors for review and feedback.
• Collaborate with all members of the team.
• Maintain and strictly adhere to production schedules.
• Assist the design staff as needed.
• Work with other in-house departments to ensure requests are met in a timely and effective manner.

Requirements

• 3+ years book design experience.
• Proven talent in creating innovative book design, application of typography, layout, color.
• Solid computer design skills: proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.
• Ability to juggle many projects simultaneously.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to present design ideas.
• Familiarity with print production.
• MacOS proficient.
• Enthusiastic, optimistic, able to interact well with others, team player, and well-rounded.
• Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign.
• Ability to take direction and communicate well both verbally and in writing, keeping track of projects, detailed, and very organized.
