Job Description

SOSO is looking for a freelance developer to work with our multidisciplinary studio on a project-by-project basis. The ideal candidate is a strong, detail-oriented programmer who is also interested in visual arts and design. As a freelance contract developer, you will be contributing to the design and software development of award-winning digital installations and experiences for a range of clients across industries. You should have a solid understanding of responsive design principles and the ability to collaborate effectively with designers, developers, and project managers. In addition, you will be working at the conceptual phase of projects to develop prototypes in code for client proposals and internal review.

Your Role

As a Freelance Front End Developer at SOSO you will:

• Build production level graphics and related software with a team of developers, designers and project managers.
• Write, test, and document code in a variety of languages and formats.
• Prototype graphical sketches and experiments.
• Create system diagrams and hardware schematics for interactive installations.
• Prototype, setup, configure and test hardware.
• Maintain existing software applications and installations.
• Provide input on technology choices such as language, libraries, code paradigms, and system architecture.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with a development team on Github using an agile project management process.

Requirements

The ideal candidate:

• Has a passion for getting the details right, but also an ability to see how those details fit into the big picture.
• Can understand projects at multiple scales, able to zoom in to details and zoom out to see how the pieces fit together.
• Possesses an organized, detail-oriented approach to solving problems with a systematic method.
• Is fluent with mathematics, geometry, and their application in graphics programming, comfortable working in 3D environments.
• Shows willingness to experiment and prototype, understanding that some creative problems require exploration.
• Communicates clearly, concisely, and respectfully, keeping the team and client informed of progress and needs.
• Listens, compromises, and builds consensus while advocating for specific approaches.
• Is a self-directed contributor with strong time-management skills.
• Thinks strategically about technology choices, excited to try new things while valuing tried methods.
