Job Description

Responsible for creating, designing, printing, and distributing the territory’s funeral homes, cemeteries, and crematory clients’ requested personalized visuals, register books, thank you notes, signage, memorabilia, etc. Designers write and create territory-specific internal documentation and communication and as needed, create and print materials for non-profit organizations that the territory sponsors.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of assigned creative projects from beginning to completion.
• Collaborate with Funeral Directors and leadership to ascertain client and location-specific needs, providing excellent and consistent creative design advice.
• Collaborate with locations’ management teams to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget constraints.
• Generate and manipulate graphic images, text, and video for clients.
• Write copy for internal communications and external clients’ personalized services.
• Collect, convert, and edit text and graphical materials provided by clients for prototypes.
• Provide drafts to team manager and clients for final approval and edit as needed.
• Print materials according to client-specific needs.
• Package and ship ordered materials to the territory’s specific locations in a timely manner.
• Provide training and direction to location-specific staff as it relates to graphics, software applications, shipping dates, and deadlines.
• Manage client expectations to ensure objectives are met.

Requirements

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic/Web Design or related field.

Experience

• Five (5) years’ experience in graphic design and typography standards.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite of products, specifically InDesign, Acrobat, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
• Experience editing photos.
• Funeral home industry experience preferred.

• Proven expertise in various types of design work.
• Ability to quickly understand technical concepts and effectively communicate them through visuals.
• Ability to work within branding guidelines while still contributing fresh ideas.
• Ability to prioritize and work against tight deadlines and challenging expectations.
• Ability to work a number of evenings each month and rotational weekends.
• Confidence to take ownership of a project and drive it from concept to completion.
• Ability to evaluate processes and identify methods for improvement.
• High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Effective time management.

Work Conditions

Work Environment

• Work indoors during all seasons and weather conditions.
• Limited amount of local and/or multiple location traveling required.
• Standard business dress required.

Work Postures

• Sitting continuously for many hours per day, up to 6 hours.
• Standing for several hours at a time per day printing and packaging, up to 2-3 hours.

Physical Demands

• Physical effort requiring manual dexterity is required, including paperwork, computers, and phone usage, as well as Fiery Work Station, Image Press, Large Format Printers, Trimming Guillotine, Folder, Laminator, and Data Card Printer.
• Physical effort to move, lift, and restock boxes of paper (up to 60 lbs.) and manage and load large paper rolls used for printing.

Work Hours

• Work a number of evenings every month as needed.
• Work one weekend each month as primary coverage to accommodate funeral service needs.
• Serve on call one weekend each month and work as needed to ensure funeral service needs are met.
