Job Description

Method’s Real-Time division is looking for an experienced Technical Animator & Rigger to join our Vancouver team. The successful candidate will work with the CG Supervisor, Rigging, Animation, and Modeling Leads to provide creative iterative problem-solving and create, maintain, test, and debug animation tools and pipelines.

The role requires ensuring art content and features are easily integrated and aligned with the artistic vision while considering technical constraints. The candidate will also identify problems, guide the team toward better workflows through automation and tools, and act as a communication bridge between artists and the development team to optimize workflow.

The Technical Animator/Rigger will work with the Real-time team to implement rigs and rigging assets, design efficient rigs appropriate to production needs, and design, test, and maintain character setups.

Requirements

The successful candidate will bring prior experience from a similar role, expertise in Unreal or an equivalent real-time engine, and proven experience with animation implementation in games or film, along with knowledge of animation retargeting and sharing.

Additional desired skills include:

• Software: Maya, Unreal or equivalent game engine, Motionbuilder (bonus)
• Programming: Python, Maya API, Motionbuilder API (bonus)
• Demonstrated ability to work with strict deadlines and under pressure
• Ability to take direction and find creative solutions during the iterative process
• Strong attention to detail
• Understanding of limb movement, weight effects, and skin and flesh behavior
• Positive team-oriented mindset
• Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working without micromanagement
• Knowledge of Motionbuilder API, Shotgrid, Substance Design & Painter is an asset

Compensation and Benefits

The pay range for this role is $26.00 - $47.00 CAD hourly. The benefits for eligible part-time employees working 25 or more hours per week and full-time employees in the US include a comprehensive package of health, retirement, insurance benefits, and paid time off. Benefits for eligible project hires and part-time employees working less than 25 hours per week in the US include retirement, select insurance benefits, and health benefits as required by law.
