Position: Unreal Animator (Temporary)

Location: Vancouver, BC – Remote

Pay Range: $25.00 - $47.00 CAD hourly

As an Animator with Method’s Real-Time & Gaming division, you’ll be responsible for the design and execution of animation as assigned to meet the needs of the project. This position requires a high degree of artistic judgement, strong knowledge of anatomy, body mechanics, and character acting. You’ll also exhibit the ability to troubleshoot and communicate technical issues that may occur.

Main Duties include collaborating with Supervisors, Leads, and other animators to produce high-quality animation, creating compelling, story-driven moments that fit within the project’s style and pacing. You will animate both primary and secondary characters, including facial animation and scene elements, primarily in Unreal Engine, and implement animation in Unreal. Responsibilities include meeting scheduling and show deadlines, regular communication with Production and Leads, previs, animation tests, layout, and submitting shots for review.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have prior working experience in a similar role and a thorough knowledge of Unreal Engine and animation tools in Unreal, as well as knowledge of Maya and Motionbuilder. A good understanding of physical motion, weight, balance, texture, and form is essential. Additional desired skills include:

• Demonstrated ability to work with strict deadlines and under pressure.
• Ability to take direction and find creative solutions during the iterative process.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work within a team and with other departments.
• Experience animating with motion capture is a plus.
• Animation experience in a games studio is a plus.
• Thorough knowledge of Unreal is a plus.
• Metahuman facial animation experience is a plus.
