Job Title: Protestant Musician

Duties include accompanying choir/solo music presentations that enhance the atmosphere of worship for the congregation, coordinating with the worship leader to adjust tempo and style of choir accompaniment, attending musician rehearsals, worship services, and special programs. The musician will develop and provide an activity plan and proposed schedule for all Protestant music during worship services, and will be responsible for providing musical accompaniment for the 1100 a.m. Protestant Congregation Sunday Worship Services (total of 52 Sundays). This includes playing preludes, postludes, and required songs during services, maintaining presence at least thirty minutes prior to each service, and providing musical accompaniment for choirs, ensembles, and soloists during rehearsals and special programs as scheduled by the Chaplain/Pastor.

Requirements

Musician shall be musically proficient on their specific instrument (Pianist/Keyboardist/Organist) and must be proficient in reading music. They should possess experience performing in religious worship settings and should have personal experience with military culture and ministry within a multi-faceted, interfaith community. It is essential for the musician to understand the life of military personnel who may face deployment, family separation, frequent relocations, and stationing in foreign countries. If they lack experience with a military chapel, they must be willing to learn about the unique characteristics of the military chapel community.

Additional Information

The musician is expected to be present at least thirty (30) minutes prior to each special service/program and at least fifteen (15) minutes before each scheduled rehearsal service. An activity plan and proposed schedule for all Protestant music must be developed and provided.
