Job Description
Sparkler Learning is seeking a talented audio producer/sound designer to join the creative team of our social and emotional learning podcast for kids and families, LITTLE KIDS, BIG HEARTS. The award-winning show is hosted by a longtime early childhood educator. Each episode features discussions with young children about social and emotional learning issues and imaginary adventures in the magical Land of Qook-a-lackas. The audio producer and sound designer is responsible for delivering each episode’s audio by cutting character tape according to a script, sound design, layering in music and SFX tracks, and mastering the episode for publication according to industry standards. The episodes release monthly, with compensation of $600 per episode.
Responsibilities
_ Contributes to episode and season planning alongside the show’s producers
_ Consults on episode recording, maintaining audio quality, providing recording best practices, and troubleshooting recording questions/issues
_ Cuts character tape/audio tracks from a script provided by show producers
_ Sound designs the episode, including layering in additional music and SFX tracks
_ Performs audio restoration on audio tracks, including noise reduction, EQing, and removing filler words
_ Receives and incorporates feedback from the producers on audio drafts
_ Masters final drafts of episodes for publishing according to industry standards for major streaming platforms
_ Note: The audio producer/sound designer is not required to compose music; all music is composed by another team member.
Requirements
Minimum Skills
_ Proficiency with audio editing software, such as Pro Tools (preferred), Adobe Audition, or Reaper
_ Proficiency with audio review/collaboration platforms, such as frame.io (preferred) or Dropbox Replay
_ Proven experience producing, mixing, and mastering podcasts (preferred) or recorded music
_ Strong organizational skills
_ Ability to prioritize tasks
_ Ability to receive feedback and implement changes to drafts in a timely manner
_ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desired Skills
_ Access to a sound library, such as Epidemic Sound, is a plus
_ Ability to produce and record music is a plus
_ Experience/interest in creating content for children and families
