Job Description

We are a hyper-growth Tech startup on a mission to revolutionise student rental. We’re looking for 2x Full Stack Developers to help us on the next stage of our journey. Our co-founders, Harry and Ben, experienced the challenges of renting a house while at university and aimed to create a better solution. Currently operational in two UK cities with plans to expand, we have also launched in the US and achieved recognition as a rapidly scaling tech company by Tech Climbers in 2023. We are actively fundraising to accelerate our growth.

Responsibilities

As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you will:

  • Maintain and enhance our existing products: a mobile app built in React Native and a backend portal in Laravel Livewire.
  • Work closely with our development team throughout the software development lifecycle to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Assist in implementing new features and optimising performance for our mobile app.
  • Contribute to the backend portal development using Laravel Livewire.
  • Write clean, well-documented, and efficient code that adheres to best coding practices.
  • Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving feedback to maintain code quality.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues across the stack to ensure smooth functionality of both products.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and technologies to propose innovative solutions.

Requirements

We’re looking for candidates who:

  • Identify as a “Mid-Level” Full Stack Developer with good commercial experience, ideally in a startup/scaleup environment.
  • Have commercial experience with our Tech Stack: ReactNative, React, PHP, Laravel (Livewire), AWS.
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills to debug and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating a collaborative approach to team work.
  • Are based in or near the North West and can work within our hybrid policy.

Additional Information

We offer a genuinely market competitive salary (details available during the interview), share options, 25 days of holiday plus bank holidays, free gym membership, monthly team lunches with an afternoon off, company socials, a central office space in Manchester with an on-site barista, and a hybrid work policy advocating in-person collaboration with four office days and one work from home day per week.

Interview Process

The interview process includes:

  • First Stage: Exploratory call with our Talent Partner to discuss your experience and initial questions (30 mins).
  • Second Stage: Remote task to evaluate key skills for the role (1 hour max).
  • Third Stage: F2F interview split into two parts:
  • Part 1: Discussion on your task performance (30 mins).
  • Part 2: Questions about your experiences, motivations, working style, and contributions to the role (30 mins).
  • Offer: If it’s a good fit, we’ll make you an offer!
