Job Description
We want you to #JOINTHEREBELLION! For 30 years, Rebellion has been independently developing and publishing incredible video games across multiple studios. Beyond games, we have our own film and mo-cap studio, create board games, publish books, and comics, including the renowned Judge Dredd. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Game Designer to join our Rebellion North team to continue building on our years of success. Your role involves leading, inspiring, and developing your team, mentoring designers, and overseeing the project design team to deliver a high-quality gameplay experience.
This role is based at our studio in Wakefield, offering a creative and relaxed atmosphere where teamwork drives our success. We provide a relocation package to ensure a smooth transition to your new environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire a team of Designers using best practice people management techniques.
- Manage team performance and professional development through regular performance reviews and constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with Design Directors to balance creative vision with production realities.
- Communicate and collaborate with other disciplines to ensure timely delivery of the creative vision.
- Oversee and mentor the project design team, reviewing work against design briefs and incorporating stakeholder feedback.
- Work with the Production team to schedule and plan project deliveries.
- Verify design quality, provide feedback for improvement, and ensure technical and artistic direction alignment.
- Conduct gameplay evaluations with the Design Director and team to enhance the game.
- Ensure adherence to documentation workflows throughout the project lifecycle.
- Act as a mentor and role model for the design team to maintain morale and inspiration.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of people management best practices.
- Broad business knowledge of company structure, operations, and strategy.
- Ability to deliver high-quality results using necessary tools and processes.
- Expert knowledge of the video game development process.
- Excellent understanding of production pipelines.
- Professional experience with Unreal Engine and Blueprints.
