Job Description
The Senior Product Designer role is responsible for the execution of product strategies to expand categories and build into new ones for Monos. Working with the Senior Director of Product and Chief Creative Officer, you will focus on creating luggage, hard goods, bags, and accessories while understanding the brand DNA. This position involves close collaboration with suppliers and product developers to deliver premium, travel-inspired styles, engaging cross-functionally with various teams including customer happiness, creative, supply chain, operations, and quality assurance.
A Day in the Life:
- Provide directional insights on marketplace, design, art, and travel trends to inform the product roadmap 1-3 years out.
- Create new collections to establish an ecosystem of travel-inspired lifestyle products.
- Research and brief into new earth-friendly fabrics and materials for Monos.
- Present new silhouettes, materials, and trims for existing/new categories.
- Translate design sketches into detailed tech packs including construction, measurements, and materials.
- Support design-related inputs for CentricPLM.
- Lead in-person sample reviews and ensure clear communication with suppliers.
- Design with sustainable practices and knowledge of the full product lifecycle.
- Design new packaging dielines as needed.
- Ensure projects follow key calendar deadlines.
- Collaborate with customer happiness and creative teams for product education at launch.
- Occasionally travel to offshore manufacturers to fast-track development.
- Update Tech Packs through prototyping & sample iterations.
- Work with PDs to find creative solutions based on feedback.
Requirements
- 6+ years minimum industry experience in industrial design, fashion, or performance-related accessories and hard goods.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, MS Office Excel; 3D rendering is an asset but not required.
- Proficiency in CentricPLM or similar PLM software.
- Experience communicating with and traveling to domestic and offshore manufacturers.
- Attention to detail, initiative, organization, and strong verbal & written communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a new team, new processes, and self-lead.
- Openness to learning and flexibility as the scope of the role evolves.
