Job Description

The Animator (Temporary - Mid to Senior) at AGBO is responsible for designing and creating the motion of computer graphics characters. This role will assist in leading the development of animation assets that support the creative vision of the overall production. The animator will be expected to demonstrate an exceptional understanding of various animation elements, including facial animation, acting, weight, locomotion, anatomy, and dialogue.

Additionally, the animator will be involved in managing shot/sequence responsibilities, editing Motion Capture data, maintaining visual continuity, collaborating with team leads, and improving animation pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Show exceptional understanding of facial animation, acting, appeal, entertainment, weight, locomotion, anatomy, and dialogue.
  • Create high-quality, keyframe character animation.
  • Develop the timing and pace of the movement of characters or objects during sequences.
  • Manage shot/sequence responsibilities within deadlines to meet client requirements.
  • Edit Motion Capture data to blend detailed character movement and facial animation with keyframe skills.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Animator and team members to evolve tools and pipeline.
  • Maintain visual continuity, quality, and performance across characters as set by the Director and Leads.
  • Work closely with technical animation and other stakeholders to enhance animation pipelines.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Leads, and artists to create a cohesive animation vision.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in feature-style projects or video game cinematics.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Maya and MotionBuilder.
  • Understanding of the animation pipeline from concept to implementation.
  • Strong posing and storytelling skills.
  • Excellent understanding of facial animation, anatomy, and caricature.
  • Strong skills in camera, character animation, and motion capture editing.
  • Proficient in animating stylized character animation.
  • Strong communication skills in client-facing situations.
  • Experience in related disciplines such as illustration, modeling, rigging, VFX, or technical art.
  • Experience with Motion Capture data and hand key facial animation techniques.
  • Experience structuring and maintaining animation processes like rigging and prototyping.
  • Ability to effectively tell stories through character acting and movement.
  • Plan shots with an understanding of story and character context.
  • Ability to solve technical issues independently, with knowledge of when to escalate issues.
  • Maintain professional demeanor regarding direction and changing requirements.
  • Strong communication skills; able to anticipate and communicate schedule delays.
  • Resume and portfolio reel demonstrating relevant animation skills required.
  • Experience in projects that leverage Unreal for animation integration is highly desired.
