Job Description

The Animator (Temporary - Mid to Senior) at AGBO is responsible for designing and creating the motion of computer graphics characters. This position will help lead the development of animation assets to support the overall production’s creative vision, maintain visual continuity and quality across characters, and collaborate with various stakeholders in a fast-paced, creative environment.

Responsibilities

• Show exceptional understanding of facial animation, acting, appeal, entertainment, weight, locomotion, anatomy, and dialogue.
• Create high-quality, keyframe Character Animation.
• Develop the timing and pace of the movement of characters or objects during sequences.
• Manage shot/sequence responsibilities within deadlines to meet client requirements and VC standards.
• Edit Motion Capture data to blend detailed character movement/facial with keyframe skills.
• Work with the Lead Animator and team to evolve tools and pipeline.
• Maintain visual continuity, quality, and performance across characters set by the Director and Leads.
• Collaborate to create a cohesive vision for animation assignments.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in feature-style projects or video game cinematics.
• At least 5 years of experience in Maya and MotionBuilder.
• Understanding of the animation pipeline and processes from concept to implementation.
• Strong posing and storytelling skills.
• Excellent understanding of facial animation, anatomy, and caricature.
• Strong Camera, Character Animation, and Motion Capture editing skills.
• Proficient in animating stylized character animation.
• Strong communication skills in client-facing situations.
• Skills in one or more related disciplines such as illustration, modeling, rigging, VFX, or technical art.
• Experience working with and editing Motion Capture data.
• Experience with hand key facial animation and relevant tools.
• Ability to structure & maintain animation processes like rigging or prototyping.
• Experience in Character Performance.
• Ability to effectively tell compelling narratives through character acting and movement.
• Plan shots with understanding of story/character context.
• Develop working knowledge of necessary production tools.
• Ability to solve technical issues independently and know when to escalate them.
• Maintain a professional demeanor regarding direction and changing requirements.
• Strong communication skills to anticipate and report schedule delays proactively.
• Resume and portfolio reel demonstrating relevant animation skills required.
• Experience with projects that leverage Unreal for animation integration is greatly desired.
