Job Description

The User Experience Designer 3 position at UC San Diego is a contract role located in the Health Sciences Department in La Jolla, with a pay scale ranging from $95,000 to $120,000 per year. This role is responsible for applying user experience design principles and practices to a broad range of projects, which have a significant impact on websites, systems, and departments. The designer will work independently and collaboratively, using advanced skills in problem solving and time management to deliver effective results.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications include:

• Seven years of related experience, education, or training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in a related area plus three years of relevant experience/training.
• Skills in diagramming, prototyping, and utilizing design tools.
• Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.
• Effective time management and self-motivation skills.
• Preferred: Basic web and/or software development skills.
• Experience in user interface design best practices.
• Knowledge of design principles and guidelines.
• Basic understanding of software architectures and IT technologies.
• Knowledge of relevant processes and procedures.
