Ignite Hubs is an education charity focused on inspiring children and young people to become trailblazers, creative thinkers, and digital experts. We aim to introduce innovative learning methods to enhance skills, connections, and practical experiences for future employment.

The Project involves creating the cover for our upcoming STEM Career Book, targeted at children aged 9 to 12. This book, authored by award-winning writer Tamsin Winter, will explore the world of Cyber Security, following our previous editions on Robotics and Weather Science. More details on our book series can be found at https://www.ignitehubs.org.uk/career-books.

Requirements

We are looking for a talented and creative Illustrator—whether budding, emerging, or established—to design the cover of our next STEM book. The book will consist of approximately 120 pages, and you will contribute significantly by visually bringing the story to life and creating an attractive cover that engages children.

Additionally, the ideal candidate should be willing to participate in promotional activities such as interviews, attending a book launch in February 2025, and posting on social media, with specifics to be discussed and agreed upon.

Application Process

To apply, please submit the following:

  • Samples or a link to your portfolio, especially projects aimed at children.
  • A CV and a brief cover letter.
  • A fee proposal for designing the cover.

The deadline to apply is 31st October 2024. Interviews for shortlisted illustrators will occur during the first week of November, and the cover should be completed by the end of November or early December, with the book’s publication slated for January/February 2025.
