Job Description

We are looking for a freelance textile designer to join our growing team at James Hare. You will work in collaboration with the head of design to create exclusive designs that align with the brand’s ethos. This role involves working with the Design Team, Creative Director, external suppliers, and internal departments to deliver quality fabrics, wallcoverings, and trims to be launched into the international market.

Responsibilities include creating original designs for various applications, collaborating on colour and design development, interpreting trends, and liaising with suppliers throughout the design and production process. You will also be expected to research design and colour trends and attend trade shows when required.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High achieving degree in Textile Design or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience as a Textile Designer in a commercial setting.
  • Exceptional drawing and design skills.
  • Excellent sense of colour and understanding of printing and weaving techniques.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of CAD.
  • Good knowledge of commercial fabric printing and production processes (digital, rotary, flat bed).
  • Sound understanding of Intellectual Property rights and copyright related to design.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with the design team and other departments.
  • Flexibility and practical task management with the ability to work under pressure and within tight timescales.

  • Highly creative and innovative.
  • Desire to succeed with a can-do attitude.
  • Dedicated, passionate, and self-motivated.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Friendly and collaborative.
  • 2 or more years of experience in a relevant role.

Additional Information

Job Type: Part-time

Expected hours: 15 per week

Benefits: Company pension

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Work Location: In person (Central Leeds Office)
