Job Description

We want you to #JOINTHEREBELLION! For 30 years, we’ve been independently developing and publishing incredible video games at our multiple studios founded by Jason & Chris Kingsley. Rebellion is more than just games; we have our own film and mo-cap studio, create board games, publish books, and comics through 2000AD, such as the amazing Judge Dredd.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Game Designer to join our passionate and experienced Rebellion North team, to help build on the years of success that Rebellion has enjoyed. Your role is to lead, inspire and develop your team and mentor designers in all aspects of their role while overseeing the work of the project design team. Your focus is to lead a team of Designers to deliver a high-quality gameplay experience in line with project direction.

This role is based at our studio in Wakefield, offering a creative and relaxed atmosphere where teamwork drives our success. We can provide a relocation package, including moving assistance, temporary accommodation, and full support to ensure a smooth transition to your new environment.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Lead & inspire a team of Designers with best practice people management techniques.
  • Proactively manage your team’s performance and professional development.
  • Collaborate with Design Directors to balance creative vision with production realities.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other disciplines to deliver the creative vision on time.
  • Oversee the work of a project design team and mentor designers.
  • Regularly review your team’s work against the design brief and provide actionable feedback.
  • Collaborate with the Production team to schedule and plan delivery.
  • Verify the quality of design in the game and suggest improvements.
  • Plan and conduct gameplay evaluations, providing feedback and suggestions.
  • Ensure correct documentation workflows and processes are followed.
  • Be an active mentor and role model for the Design team.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of people management best practices.
  • Broad business knowledge of the company structure, operations, and strategy.
  • Willingness and ability to deliver high-quality results using required tools and processes.
  • Expert knowledge of the video game development process.
  • Excellent knowledge of production pipelines.
  • Professional experience working with Unreal Engine and Blueprints.
