Job Description

Outlier helps the world’s most innovative companies improve their AI models by providing human feedback. We are looking for talented writers with fluency in English to help train generative artificial intelligence models. This reading and writing-intensive freelance opportunity is remote with flexible hours, allowing you to work whenever is best for you.

Your contributions will include reading English text to rank AI-generated responses, writing and rewriting prompts and responses (including research and fact-checking), and assessing the factuality and relevance of AI text outputs.

Requirements

Examples of desirable expertise for this role include:

• Experience as a professional writer or editor.
• Currently enrolled in or completed a bachelor’s degree or higher in a writing-related discipline at an accredited institution.
• A strong sense of writing style paired with exceptional English-language spelling and grammar skills.
• Excellent logic and reasoning skills.
• Attention to detail and the ability to clearly explain the strengths and weaknesses of a given piece of text.

Payment

Current pay rates for core project work by English writing experts in various countries are as follows:

• US: $15 to $35 USD per hour
• UK: £11 to £27 GBP per hour
• Canada: $20 to $48 CAD per hour
• Australia: $22 to $53 AUD per hour
• New Zealand: $25 to $58 NZD per hour

Rates vary based on expertise, skills assessment, location, project need, and other factors. Higher rates may be available for PhDs. Note that lower rates may apply for non-core work, such as during onboarding or project overtime phases. Certain projects may provide incentive payments.
