Job Description

Ateema Media & Marketing is seeking a talented Freelance Social Media Video Editor to join our team and manage the editing for our @ChicagoDoes social media accounts on Instagram and TikTok. This role focuses on short-term and long-form video content (between 15 seconds to 1 minute), spotlighting local businesses and attractions in Chicago. You’ll be working directly with our creative team to ensure videos follow our established brand guidelines, with room for creative freedom after the initial weeks.

Requirements

The ideal candidate has a strong eye for design and storytelling, is proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro, and understands social media video production. Responsibilities include:

• Video Editing: Edit both short-form (10-25 seconds) and long-form (1+ minute) videos for @ChicagoDoes, ensuring compliance with brand guidelines and visual consistency across platforms.
• Collaborate with Team: Work closely with the videographer/on-camera freelancer to create cohesive and approved content.
• Post-Production Quality: Maintain high standards in post-production, ensuring smooth transitions, balanced audio, and color correction.
• Storytelling and Engagement: Focus on engaging viewers from the start and maintaining their interest through effective pacing and visuals.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro/Final Cut/Related Software, with a portfolio of social media videos.
• Familiarity with filming fundamentals, integrating B-roll, and cutting interviews.
• Strong understanding of color theory, composition, and visual storytelling.
• Examples of relevant work, particularly for Instagram and TikTok.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong communication skills and effective collaboration.
• Background in journalism or media/film studies.
• Basic understanding of marketing principles.
• Preference for candidates who are juniors in college or older, preferably with coursework in video editing or filmmaking.
• Experience conducting interviews and comfort in front of the camera.
