Job Description

Main Areas of Responsibility

The Purpose Of Your Role Will Be:

  • Accountable for student progress and development in the subject area across KS3, KS4, and post 16.
  • Ensure high standards of teaching and learning through continuous enhancements.
  • Provide a broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated curriculum according to academy aims and policies.
  • Implement and apply school policies and procedures consistently across the subject area.
  • Ensure effective tutor program implementation and tutor performance.
  • Maintain effective behaviour for learning throughout the faculty.
  • Manage and deploy teaching/support staff, financial, and physical resources efficiently.
  • Lead literacy development through the WORD strategy to raise standards of Literacy across the Academy.

Your main areas of responsibility will include:

  • Operational and strategic planning, including self-evaluation, improvement plans, and development of syllabuses and resources.
  • Delivery of a high-quality, cost-effective curriculum.
  • Staff development and management of an effective team.
  • Ensuring successful student outcomes through monitoring and evaluation systems.
  • Involvement in the pastoral system as a form tutor.
  • Teaching and serving as a role model.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
  • Excellent teaching skills with a minimum of two yearsโ€™ teaching experience.
  • Proven success in raising student achievement.
  • Experience in leading and ensuring high-quality performance among staff.
  • Proven experience in monitoring, evaluation, and improvement processes in teaching.
  • High level of ICT skills and knowledge of technology to enhance achievement.
  • Experience in innovative curriculum development.
  • Experience in presenting to diverse audiences including students, teachers, and parents.
  • Understanding of whole school strategies for improving literacy and numeracy.
  • Successful experience leading cross-subject initiatives for achievement improvement.
  • Experience embedding innovative strategies for Assessment for Learning.
  • Recent experience in managing and implementing change successfully at subject leader level.
  • Willingness to use coaching as a model for ongoing professional development.
