Job Description

Outlier helps the world’s most innovative companies improve their AI models by providing human feedback. They are looking for experienced English writers to lend their expertise to train AI models. This is a reading and writing-intensive freelance opportunity that is remote with flexible hours, allowing you to work whenever is best for you.

You may contribute your expertise by:

• Reading English text to rank AI-generated responses
• Writing and rewriting prompts and responses, which may involve research and fact-checking
• Assessing the factuality and relevance of text produced by AI models

Requirements

Examples of desirable expertise include:

• Experience as a professional writer or editor
• Currently enrolled in or completed a bachelor’s degree or higher in a writing-related discipline at an accredited institution
• A strong sense of writing style paired with exceptional English-language spelling and grammar, as well as logic and reasoning skills
• Attention to detail and the ability to explain clearly the strengths and weaknesses of a given piece of text

Payment

Currently, pay rates for core project work by English writing experts are as follows:

• US: $15 to $35 USD per hour
• UK: £11 to £27 GBP per hour
• Canada: $20 to $48 CAD per hour
• Australia: $22 to $53 AUD per hour
• New Zealand: $25 to $58 NZD per hour

Rates vary based on expertise, skills assessment, location, and project need. Higher rates may be offered to PhDs. Non-core work may offer lower rates, and some projects offer incentive payments. Please review the payment terms for each project.
