Job Description

Outlier helps the world’s most innovative companies improve their AI models by providing human feedback. They are looking for experienced software engineers to lend their coding expertise in training AI models, particularly in the context of generative AI. Projects involve engaging with these models as they learn to code, and no prior AI experience is required. This is a freelance opportunity that allows remote work with flexible hours.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in or completed a bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science at a selective institution.

• Proficiency in one or more programming languages: Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C++.

• Ability to articulate complex concepts fluently in English.

• Excellent attention to detail, including grammar, punctuation, and style guidelines.

Payment

Currently, pay rates for core project work by Tier 2 coding experts in the U.S. average USD $30 per hour. Rates may vary based on expertise, skills assessment, location, project needs, and other factors. Higher rates may be offered to PhDs, while lower rates may apply for non-core work such as initial onboarding or project overtime. Certain projects may offer incentive payments, and applicants should review the payment terms for each project.

Additional Information

This is a 1099 contract opportunity on the Outlier.ai platform. As a freelance opportunity, Outlier does not offer internships, sponsorship, or employment, and candidates must be authorized to work in their country of residence. International students on a visa may also sign up, but they should consult their tax and/or immigration advisor regarding their specific situations.
