Job Description

Our design team is a highly collaborative group of user researchers and product and visual designers who value creativity, open idea sharing, and having fun while we work. We are motivated by our millions of users, aiming for them to love our products. We are looking for a Product Designer 2 to help define and design compelling experiences for Microsoft Teams, particularly focusing on Admin experiences that impact customer security, app deployment, and management. The ideal candidate can conceptualize big ideas while driving detailed design development for collaboration and communications, security, and app management experiences.

In this role, you will collaborate with other designers and product managers to create user scenario-driven designs that meet business goals. You will identify user-centered design patterns, establish scenarios, and place designs into user contexts, creating interactions that align with user requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Estimate individual schedules and define product design needs based on user insights and business requirements.
  • Generate ideation solutions to improve product designs, synthesizing these into concise user wants and solutions.
  • Prototype new products, striving for realistic representations of design and gathering feedback from teams and customers.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to ensure high-quality design implementation and perform quality assurance for detailed designs.
  • Contribute to visual designs from concept to delivery, producing various visual design documents.
  • Create wireframes, journey maps, user jobs, scenarios, task flows, and personas under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Utilize a prescribed design system and share learnings with other designers for team improvements.
  • Effectively communicate work to peers and managers, ensuring stakeholders understand the context.
  • Create compelling narratives for products or features and explore innovative storytelling methods.
  • Assist with project tasks alongside creative team members to define and iterate on product features.

Requirements

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or a related field AND 3+ years of experience in product or service design, OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 2+ years of related work experience in product or service design, OR a Master’s Degree in the same fields and 1+ year of relevant internship/work experience.
  • Ability to articulate design thinking through various mediums including information diagrams, wireframe flows, and detailed prototypes.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for the produced work.
  • Solid understanding of graphic/visual design.
  • Experience collaborating with other disciplines, including engineering and product management.
  • Able to drive design development for collaboration, communications, security, and app management experiences.
  • Experience in the security domain.
  • Experience creating a variety of visual design documents such as mood boards, storyboards, product renderings/visualizations, and layouts.

Additional Information

The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $83,600 - CAD $159,600 per year.
