Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Lead Game Designer with exceptional leadership and people management skills to guide our talented team on an unannounced project. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to help shape the development right from the very start. Your role is to lead, inspire, and develop your team and mentor designers in all aspects of their role, while overseeing the work of the project design team. The focus is to deliver a high-quality gameplay experience in line with project direction. This role is based at our riverside headquarters in Oxford, which provides a creative and relaxed atmosphere where teamwork drives our success.
Requirements
• Extensive knowledge of people management best practices.
• Expert knowledge of the video game development process, including timely working and prototyping/iterating effectively.
• Excellent knowledge of production pipelines.
• Willingness to deliver high-quality results using required tools and processes.
• Broad business knowledge of company structure, operations, and strategy.
• Ability to proactively manage team performance and professional development through performance reviews.
• Skills in collaboration with Design Directors and Production teams to balance creativity and production realities.
Responsibilities
• Lead and inspire a team of Designers with best practice people management techniques.
• Oversee the work of a project design team and mentor designers.
• Regularly review team work against design briefs and provide actionable feedback.
• Verify game design quality, give feedback to designers, and suggest improvements.
• Plan and conduct gameplay evaluations providing feedback to enhance the game.
• Maintain team morale, fostering creativity and enthusiasm.
