Job Description

Outlier helps the world’s most innovative companies improve their AI models by providing human feedback. We are seeking experienced software engineers who wish to contribute their coding expertise to train AI models, specifically generative AI models that write better code. Projects include engaging with these models as they learn to code, with no requirement for previous AI experience. This freelance opportunity is remote with flexible hours.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in or completed a bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science at a selective institution
• Proficiency in one or more of the following programming languages: Java, Python, JavaScript / TypeScript, C++
• Ability to articulate complex concepts fluently in English
• Excellent attention to detail, including grammar, punctuation, and style guidelines

Responsibilities

• Crafting and answering questions related to computer science to assist in training AI models
• Evaluating and ranking code generated by AI models

Payment

• Core project work rates for Tier 2 coding experts in the U.S. average USD $30 per hour.
• Rates may vary based on expertise, skills assessment, location, project need, and other factors, with higher rates for PhDs.
• Lower rates may apply for non-core work, such as during initial onboarding or project overtime phases, with opportunities for incentive payments on certain projects.
