Job Description

UX Designer needed for an initial 3-month contract at £500pd inside IR35. The role is hybrid, requiring in-office attendance 2 days per week. The selected UX Designer will contribute to a government project, with experience in this area being essential. The goals include enhancing user satisfaction, designing within GDS patterns, and focusing on accessibility.

The designer will work closely with various teams, including user research, content design, and interaction design, to deliver user experience outcomes in an agile environment. Responsibilities include lean UI design, rapid iterations, prototyping, and embedding user needs into all prototypes while helping the wider team understand UX methodologies and best practices.

Documenting design work for continuity, managing prototypes, and producing artefacts like customer journey illustrations, mock-ups, and prototypes are key tasks. User journeys and needs will be reviewed each sprint.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as a UX Designer, specifically on government projects.

• Proficiency in enhancing user satisfaction and designing with GDS design patterns.

• Strong understanding of accessibility and inclusive design practices.

• Experience working in an agile environment, particularly within SCRUM frameworks.

• Competence in lean UI design and delivering rapid prototypes.

• Ability to communicate user needs effectively and embed them within design processes.

• Skill in producing essential design artefacts and documenting design work for continuity.

• Capability to collaborate with diverse teams and a thorough understanding of UX design methodologies.
