Job Description

The Junior Java Developer at JP Morgan in Glasgow will be part of the Public Cloud Enablement & Adoption team, operating in an agile environment. This consultancy role requires enhancing, building, and delivering trusted market-leading technology products securely, stably, and scalably. The position involves driving significant business impact through technical expertise and problem-solving to address diverse challenges across multiple technologies and applications.

Job Responsibilities

  • Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with cloud platform engineering teams for high-quality, secure, and scalable applications.
  • Stay updated with advancements in cloud technologies and provide recommendations for new tools/technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with cloud security and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify hidden problems and patterns in data to enhance coding hygiene and system architecture.
  • Support junior team members and foster a collaborative environment.
  • Troubleshoot and debug production issues with timely resolutions.
  • Ensure code quality through unit testing, code reviews, and continuous integration.

Requirements

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
  • Proficiency in Java coding.
  • Experience with AWS services (e.g., ECS/EKS, MSK, DynamoDB, Lambda).
  • Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a corporate environment with modern programming and database querying languages.
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Understanding of agile methodologies like CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
  • Knowledge of software applications and technical processes across disciplines (cloud, AI, machine learning, mobile, etc.).

Desirable Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • AWS certification is preferred.
  • Experience using Kafka on Cloud/AWS.
