Job Description

Envisionit, an award-winning digital marketing agency based in Chicago, is seeking a Freelance WordPress Developer. Estimated timing is 15 - 20 hours per week mid-Jan - March with the potential for extending. We are looking for someone who can provide a consistent schedule for availability during business hours. Key functions include completing maintenance and support projects for existing WordPress websites built using Classic Editor and ACF, developing code primarily using HTML, CSS/LESS/SASS, XML/JSON, AJAX, JavaScript, and PHP, and using Bootstrap for code theming and customization. The role will also involve managing relational databases utilizing MySQL, performing quality control and testing of web programming, adhering to version control policies, ensuring compatibility across various browsers and devices, optimizing website performance, and ensuring compliance with accessibility standards.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this position will have at least 3 years of professional experience developing and maintaining WordPress websites. Requirements include:

• A solid understanding of current front-end development techniques and configuring/customizing WordPress.
• Ability to see the bigger picture and avoid using inline styles and compartmentalizing code blocks.
• Strong understanding of UX for both web and mobile experiences.
• Understanding of git and git flow and typical versioning practices.
• Experience working with custom themes utilizing Classic Editor and ACF on WordPress.
• Experience translating XD and Figma files into website code.
• A strong portfolio showcasing a range of design and development projects.
• Experience developing in PHP, HTML, XML, and JavaScript, along with a basic understanding of database design.
