Job Description

Mikros Animation is a global CGI animation creative studio providing filmmakers with top-tier animation and CGI services. The FX Artist participates in the creation of various FX for films under the guidance of FX and CG Supervisors. The role involves utilizing strong technical skills and a developed aesthetic sense to produce high-quality FX that align with the film’s style. Responsibilities include creating setups and simulations for elements such as fire, smoke, and water, while adhering to internal workflows and the artistic vision of each project.

Responsibilities

• Ensure effects are achieved on time, within budget, and meet the quality standards set by the FX Supervisor and Lead FX.
• Tackle technical issues as they arise.
• Identify best practices and necessary approaches.
• Collaborate closely with production to ensure timely delivery of effects.
• Work with the Lead FX to fulfill visual requirements.
• Check that generated FX are optimized for rendering.
• Verify exports in the rendering software to ensure they conform to client-approved setups.

Requirements

• College diploma in 3D graphic arts/3D animation.
• Expertise in software such as Maya and Houdini; Katana, Arnold, and Nuke are assets.
• Knowledge of Python/Mel is an asset.
• Familiarity with techniques for effects such as particles, smoke, fire, dust, explosions, and fluids.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Experience in feature film animation is an asset.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Dynamic and collaborative work ethic.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and resolve issues effectively.
