Job Description

As a key member of our product team, you will be responsible for shaping and leading the user experience of innovative research integrity products. This involves contributing to program goals and priority decisions to support technology teams in delivering valuable impact. You will assist the Product Manager in designing processes and experiences that ensure the scientific integrity of research throughout its publication lifecycle. The role leverages innovative technologies such as AI and automation, as well as traditional publication processes, to uphold the highest standards of scientific publishing and protect against bad actors. This position provides the opportunity to shape innovative products that reinforce Springer Nature’s reputation for research integrity.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need the following:

• Multi-year experience of UX design in a senior capacity.
• Accomplished critical thinking, analysis, and decision-making skills, along with experience deploying diverse UX design and research methods.
• Experience working with stakeholders and non-designers, possessing an empathetic, articulate, and open communication style.
• Capability to run UX research independently or in a leading role as part of a team.
• Great user empathy and a focus on creating value for users.
• Adaptable working style that is comfortable with uncertainty, especially in AI development.
• A curious and ethical mindset with an interest in research integrity and a commitment to responsible AI use.
• Preference for collaborative work within a team, emphasizing collective ownership of the product.
• Good time management skills to handle work with multiple teams and products.
• Comfort in engaging with every stage of the UX lifecycle and experienced in planning UX strategies.
• Awareness of personal strengths and ability to recognize opportunities for learning and improvement.

Additional Information

Within the first three months, you will:

• Get settled into the company and its groups.
• Learn about Research Integrity principles and how they may be breached.
• Familiarize yourself with ongoing products/tools, UX research history, and various stakeholders.
• Plan, conduct, and share meaningful UX research to understand user needs.

Within six months, you will:

• Champion Research Integrity and establish design prioritization processes.
• Identify gaps and assumptions in UX research and ensure strategic stakeholder work is informed by UX outcomes.
• Motivate team members in UX research activities and share insights within the wider community.
• Advocate for Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in work practices and user delivery.
