Role: Associate UX Designer

Salary: £32,500 - £38,334 per annum – for internal applicants, internal reward principles will apply

Location: Glasgow, Darlington or Llandudno

The Student Loans Company (SLC) is a non-profit making Government-owned organisation providing loans and grants to students in universities and colleges in the UK. The Associate UX Designer will join the Customer Experience team within the wider Product, Customer and External Relations directorate. This role blends the responsibilities of interaction designer and user researcher, requiring comfort in both roles as needed. You will collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams alongside senior UX members, content designers, analysts, and developers to deliver user-centred services.

SLC offers a blended working model typically involving 2 days in office and 3 days from home.

Requirements

• Very good communication skills for collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders, demonstrating excellent team skills and autonomous work capabilities.
• Passion for user-centered design practices and Agile methodologies, with a solid understanding of interaction design across different devices.
• Exceptional organisational and prioritisation skills, efficiently managing multiple workstreams while maintaining attention to detail.
• Active listening skills with the ability to ask thoughtful questions to deeply understand project requirements and user needs.
• Proven ability to manage and organise large amounts of information while maintaining a systematic approach to design solutions.
