Job Description

Animators create high quality motion of computer graphics creatures and objects within a shot, using a variety of animation software programs, and working under the general supervision of Senior Animators/Animation Supervisors.

Responsibilities include successful animation of a series of shots on a specific project, participating as a team member in aesthetic decision-making, providing feedback during daily reviews, and maintaining high productivity while meeting deadlines. The role also encompasses mentoring entry-level Animators, performing tasks related to computer-generated animation, and collaborating effectively with senior team members and different departments. Animators are expected to anticipate technical challenges on shots and devise solutions for the most effective results.

Requirements

Applicants should possess demonstrable experience working in computer animation, particularly on feature films. Expert knowledge of traditional animation principles, acting, film production, and compositional design is required, alongside exceptional animating skills as evidenced by a portfolio, demo reel, and references.

Additional qualifications include resilience and efficiency in meeting time-sensitive goals, ability to take ownership of work, effective communication and interpersonal skills, and the capacity to encourage and empower fellow artists.

Proficiency in Maya, some knowledge of UNIX and shell scripting, as well as an understanding of chaining and constraint techniques are essential. Experience in a similar level position and familiarity with the CG production pipeline, particularly within ILM, will be considered advantageous.

Additional Information

This role is Hybrid, which means the employee will be required to work a minimum of 2 days on-site per week at a company-designated location, and occasionally from home.
