2D Animation Lead & Director - NDA - Africa Based High Profile Project

2D Animator is needed in Cape Town, South Africa.

Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced 2D Animation Lead & Director to guide the creative process for an NDA-based projection show project running from February to May 2025. This role requires a hands-on leader who can contribute to the storyboarding, animatics, and animation direction, ensuring the final product is visually captivating and cohesive.

The ideal candidate has strong drawing skills, a keen eye for detail, and experience with 2.5D animation techniques. Your primary focus will be on crafting compelling animations of characters and scenic elements, bringing them to life for a large-scale projection.

Candidates must have a strong portfolio, proven experience in animation direction, and be based in South Africa (preferably Cape Town) or Zambia.

Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the creative team to develop storyboards and animatics that define the project’s vision.
• Lead the animation team, providing guidance and direction to ensure consistent quality and style.
• Assist in the development of character designs and scenic elements, contributing directly when needed.
• Oversee the animation production process, ensuring smooth integration of 2D animations with 2.5D techniques.
• Ensure all deliverables meet deadlines and align with the creative brief.

Requirements:
• Proven experience in animation direction, with a strong understanding of storyboarding and animatics.
• Great drawing and artistic skills, with a portfolio showcasing character and environmental animation.
• Advanced understanding of 2D in 3D style or 2.5D animation workflows.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a team.
• Fluent in English, and based in South Africa (preferably Cape Town) or Zambia.
