Job Description

Job Title: Senior JavaScript Developer

Level & Responsibility: This role is at a Senior Manager level joining our engineering team and providing technical leadership to more junior Developers.

Salary: £60,000+ per annum, depending on experience, and our 10% discretionary bonus.

Location & Hybrid Working: Either London or Leeds, a minimum of 2 days in the office per week.

We are looking for a Full Stack Senior JavaScript Developer to join our central engineering team at SMG. As Senior JavaScript Developer, you will take ownership of tickets assigned to you and deal with them end-to-end, managing the design, implementation, and delivery of requests. You will be responsible for the architecture of new features and for maintaining the technical quality standards within the Developer team. Additionally, you will act as a point of contact and mentor for the rest of the team, coaching and guiding them within their roles and development.

Requirements

• Significant experience delivering at a senior developer level.
• Deep knowledge of the TypeScript and/or JavaScript languages and related frameworks, including React and Node.js (or both).
• Practical experience working with databases, ideally MongoDB.
• Experience delivering in an agile environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Deep understanding of software tools and practices, including git, pull requests, code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, etc.
• Good understanding of security and performance considerations.
• Comfortable with deploying a web app in AWS (optional).

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design & build web applications using TypeScript and JavaScript. Our tech stack includes React, Node.js, MongoDB, and AWS.
• Contribute code across the full stack of the web application.
• Provide technical leadership to more junior developers.
• Take responsibility for technical quality standards within the developer team.
• Define the code architecture for new features.
• Initiate improvements in code quality and user experience.
• Work closely with the product team to ensure the high quality of tickets.
