Job Description

TEGNA Inc. (NYSE: TGNA) is searching for an ambitious Digital Content Producer for WATN WLMT-TV Memphis, who thrives in a fast-paced news environment. The ideal candidate possesses an audience-first approach to writing, producing, and distributing local news content. Digital producers monitor audience trends to identify and create engaging local news content across all platforms, including the website, mobile app, streaming, and social media.

Responsibilities

• Write and distribute original and accurate breaking news content.
• Curate and schedule news content on all station platforms, including website, mobile app, social media, and streaming platforms.
• Edit reporter stories for grammar, clarity, structure, AP style, and optimize for digital formats.
• Utilize creative production techniques, such as subheads, hyperlinks, and graphics.
• Research for facts and credibility and monitor news releases.
• Use data and metrics to inform editorial and strategic decisions.
• Ensure the newsroom maintains journalistic integrity and the station brand.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisors or senior digital producers.

Requirements

• BA/BS in journalism, communications, or equivalent experience.
• 1-3 years of experience writing breaking news articles or in AP style.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, capable of working under time pressure.
• Ability to handle live breaking news situations with composure.
• Strong knowledge of AP style, copy editing, and SEO best practices.
• Experience with CMS, photo and video-editing systems preferred.
• Aptitude for creating and managing content on social media platforms.
• Knowledge of digital analytics interpretation is a plus.
• Ability to work various shifts, including mornings, nights, and weekends.
