Job Description

Mikros Animation is a global CGI animation creative studio providing filmmakers with top-tier animation and CGI services. The Lead Animator is responsible for a team of animators under the supervision of the Animation Director, ensuring that the artistic vision of the Director is respected. Responsibilities include managing the team, reviewing their work, and providing technical assistance.

Responsibilities

• Work with the leadership team to develop the animation style of the production.
• Collaborate with the rigging department to assist in building assets and character rigs.
• Provide constructive artistic feedback to your team through drawovers, acting, or clear communication of ideas.
• Maintain a coherent film language to assist your team within a given sequence.
• Plan deadlines for your team as determined by production.
• Animate shots from storyboards/layouts.
• Prepare presentation elements for daily reviews.
• Participate in the interviewing process for animator recruitment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience with Maya in 3D/feature animation.
• Ability to adapt to the studio’s established pipeline and project-specific tools.
• Excellent understanding of film language, storyboards, and the layout process.
• Ability to effectively communicate the Director’s comments to the team.
• Willingness to help train and encourage artists to grow both technically and artistically.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Technical knowledge of Maya is helpful.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Previous experience as a Lead Animator is a plus.
