Job Description

A Senior Artist - Animation is responsible for the creation of efficient and high-quality animation for a range of visual effects projects at Moving Picture Company (MPC). They collaborate closely with Animation Leads and Supervisors to produce appealing animation with convincing performances and physicality, adhering to the standards set by the Animation Supervisor based on MPC’s clients’ expectations. The role involves handling challenging technical shots with ease.

Qualifications

• Technical & Soft Skills:
• Previous experience in a VFX environment - Required
• Advanced knowledge of physics, performance, and anatomy - Required
• Proficient in the language of cinema and storytelling - Required
• Experience using Mocap and Facial Capture - Preferred
• Able to create Previs - Preferred
• Experience with Motion Builder - Preferred
• Preferred Software Knowledge:
• Maya - Advanced/Expert
• Linux-based environment - Proficient
• Python code MEL - Proficient

Key Responsibilities

• Follow the production schedule and complete tasks delegated by the Animation Supervisor.
• Attend Dailies sessions, presenting work and taking notes.
• Thoroughly check the quality of work before passing it downstream.
• Identify and communicate setbacks that may impact deadlines.
• Propose solutions to technically challenging shots.
• Create Master Scenes (multi-shot source file).
• Provide robust support to the Lead in assisting the rest of the team.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Line Manager or a Key Business Relationship.

Success is measured by consistently meeting task/shot/sequence/project deadlines while maintaining a high standard of visual quality and technical execution, alongside demonstrating alignment with company values such as creativity, teamwork, innovation, and commitment to excellence.
