Job Description

The Senior Artist - Animation is responsible for the creation of efficient and high-quality animation for various visual effects projects at Moving Picture Company (MPC). This role involves working closely with Animation Leads and Supervisors to produce appealing animation with convincing performances and physicality, adhering to the standards set by the Animation Supervisor. The Senior Artist should manage challenging technical shots effectively and meet the expectations of MPC’s clients.

Responsibilities

• Follow the production schedule and complete tasks delegated by the Animation Supervisor.
• Attend Dailies sessions, present work, and take notes.
• Thoroughly check the quality of work before passing it downstream.
• Identify and communicate any setbacks that may impact deadlines.
• Propose solutions for technically challenging shots.
• Create Master Scenes (multi-shot source file).
• Provide robust support to the Lead in assisting the rest of the team.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Line Manager or a Key Business Relationship.

Success is measured by consistently meeting task/shot/sequence/project deadlines while maintaining a high standard of visual quality and technical execution, as well as demonstrating alignment with the company values of creativity, teamwork, innovation, and commitment to excellence.

Qualifications

• Technical Skills: Previous experience in a VFX environment is required.
• Advanced knowledge: In physics, performance, and anatomy is required.
• Proficient in: The language of cinema and storytelling is required.
• Experience with: Mocap and Facial Capture, as well as Previs and Motion Builder is preferred.

Preferred Software Knowledge

• Maya - Advanced/Expert
• Linux-based environment - Proficient
• Python code MEL - Proficient
