Job Description

Welcome to Warner Bros. Discovery… the stuff dreams are made of. CNN seeks a talented Writer to join the Newsroom Editorial team. The Writer will work closely with senior producers, producers, and copy editors to pitch, research, plan, and write show segments for CNN’s streaming platforms and help curate Video on Demand.

Responsibilities

The Writer will:

• Collaborate with senior producers, producers, and copy editors to create show segments.
• Have strong and fast writing skills to meet production demands.
• Advise Senior Producers on editorial issues or problems that arise with assigned scripts.
• Function as the lead writer for a program and may write packages or serve as a backup copy editor.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

• 5 or more years of full-time broadcast news writing or reporting experience (preferred).
• A bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field of study (preferred) or equivalent experience.
• Excellent writing skills and an ability to produce quality work quickly.
• The ability to generate ideas and work well independently and as part of a team.
• A creative mindset to present information in new and entertaining ways and to approach stories from different angles.
• Outstanding news judgment along with critical and strategic thinking skills.
• The capacity to work an extended schedule as required by the news cycle and deadlines.
