Position: Freelance Product Designer (Soft Goods)
Department: International
Reporting to: Product Manager
Location: Montreal, QC (80% Remote, with occasional travel to Boisbriand office)
Status: Freelance on demand (Average 25-30 hours per week)
We are seeking a talented Freelance Product Designer to collaborate with our dynamic International Team. In this role, you will leverage your design expertise to create innovative and impactful products that align with market trends and consumer needs. You will take a proactive approach to contribute to the development of compelling designs, ensuring timely delivery of exceptional products.
Responsibilities
- Develop innovative new features and product profiles ensuring each product aligns with brand identity and market needs.
- Research and stay abreast of competitive products and current trends, leveraging insights to inform design decisions.
- Prepare presentation CADs and factory artwork for new and existing items.
- Create innovative prints, textures, and patterns while maintaining a strong focus on functionality and usability.
- Attend meetings and liaise with Product Management teams as required.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Industrial Design or related field.
- At least two (2) years of experience in product design and development, preferably in the consumer products industry.
- Previous experience with garment/fabrics or bag design highly sought after.
- Knowledge of textiles, synthetic materials, and hardware.
- Excellent communication skills for articulating design and technical concepts, collaborating with overseas factories, and liaising effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Creative mindset coupled with a meticulous eye for detail.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
- Reliable and self-motivated; a team player, yet able to work without close supervision.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point).
- Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD packages would be considered a plus.
