Job Description

We are a mission-driven accessibility start-up dedicated to transforming how neurodivergent individuals navigate their educational and professional journeys. Since launching our first product, Present Pal, we have empowered students across over 150 universities in the UK and US to excel in their presentations and communication skills. Following this success, we launched our second product, Tailo, an innovative reading platform designed to revolutionise content accessibility and comprehension. Our vision is to make inclusivity the standard, not the exception. We are looking for a Senior Back End Developer to play a key role in the continued growth of our Tailo platform, enhancing the Tailo API, and architecting reliable features for our users.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Delivering the development and enhancement of the Tailo API.
• Collaborating on building a resilient infrastructure that supports a reliable API.
• Leading expansion of feature capabilities to boost platform scalability.
• Integrating Machine Learning for advanced features and smarter data processing.
• Driving the development of new features to enhance reading experiences.

Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience with Python as an API service and integration with third-parties.
• Proficiency in JavaScript environments (Node.js), preferably using Typescript.
• Experience with testing frameworks like Mocha, Pytest, etc.
• Experience with AWS infrastructure including CI/CD.
• Familiarity with Databases such as PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
• Good understanding of SOLID design principles.
• Knowledge of security principles (e.g. XSS, CSRF).
• Experience with performance monitoring tools like NewRelic or DataDog.

• Experience with Machine Learning integration, LLM, or OpenAI services.

• Interest in Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Passion for accessibility and WCAG standards.

Location

Glasgow, Scotland - with a distributed team across the UK. We offer remote working but require availability to travel to Glasgow a minimum of 4 times per year for company events.
