Job Title: Product Designer โ Tax & Legal Technology
Base Location: Glasgow based (Hybrid โ 2 days per week in office)
The KPMG Tax & Legal Technical Engineering function is a cornerstone of our business. This team delivers technology-enabled outcomes across the Tax & Legal business using modern and best-in-class engineering methodologies. We adopt Cloud-based technologies and have strategic partnerships with major providers like Google and Microsoft.
As part of the Tax Technology & Innovation team, the role involves developing and maintaining software solutions for a wide range of UK and global tax products. You will be part of a small design team that collaborates with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Software Engineers, and QA professionals, providing an opportunity for clear career progression.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Collaborating with Product Owners, Developers, and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into user-centred designs and interfaces.
- Leading workshops, design sprints, and stakeholder meetings using Miro to define project goals, scope, and deliverables.
- Working closely with Development and QA teams to verify that requirements are understood, feasible, and accurately implemented.
- Creating prototypes, user flows, and wireframes in Figma, visualizing user journeys and interactions.
- Presenting design concepts, prototypes, and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders, adapting communication styles as needed.
- Staying current on UX trends, tools, and best practices to enhance the teamโs design capabilities.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Demonstrable experience as a Product Designer or UX/UI Designer, with a portfolio showcasing user-centred design for web or mobile products.
- Proficiency in Figma (or equivalent), including creating components, building prototypes, and crafting detailed design artifacts for developer handoffs.
- An excellent grasp of UX principles, user research methods, interaction design, and visual design fundamentals.
- An analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Enthusiasm for delivering excellent products and user experiences.
Amazing Extras
Skills that would be advantageous include:
- Experience in front-end development (HTML/CSS) or familiarity with frameworks like Blazor, React, or Angular.
- Experience in creating, maintaining, and evolving design systems for scalable, multi-product environments.
- Experience in planning, conducting, and synthesizing user research to inform product design decisions.
- Experience working alongside development teams to address design-to-code challenges, ensuring designs are implemented accurately.
