Job Description
Northeastern University’s Experiential Digital Global Education Division (EDGE) is seeking a Graphic Designer/Animator to create innovative educational media content supporting the teaching and learning goals of our digital learning products. This position is based in Boston, with the possibility of remote work. This is an exciting four-month contract opportunity with potential for contract extension and/or the chance to transition into a full-time role. On-campus attendance will be required periodically for quarterly meetings when and if this role becomes full-time.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with learning experience designers, video producers, and faculty to conceptualize, design, and develop engaging educational content, including custom digital graphics, interactives, motion graphics, and animations.
- Build scalable assets by designing reusable effects, animations, and styles.
- Apply strong typographic and visualization skills to develop high-quality designs.
- Manage medium to large-scale multimedia projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with program guidelines.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to user-centered, inclusive design principles.
- Storyboard, present clear ideas, and align with brand and product guidelines.
- Adapt to new projects and assignments on short notice.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media/Visual Communications, or related field.
- 3-5 years of professional design experience creating multimedia from concept to production.
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite: After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator with knowledge of Premiere Pro, PowerPoint, and other layout programs.
- Proven ability to translate instructional concepts into visuals and interactive designs.
- Strong commitment to ADA compliance and user-centered, inclusive design principles.
- Detail-oriented with strong decision-making and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated multitasking ability to deliver quality work under tight deadlines.
- Collaborative team player with experience working with vendors.
- Positive, professional attitude with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and effective in both independent and team settings.
- Committed to fostering a collaborative work environment through respect, open communication, and feedback.
