Job Description

The Senior Data Analytics Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining advanced data analytics solutions to support business decision-making processes. This role focuses on leveraging extensive experience in PowerBI or other analytics tools to transform complex data sets into actionable insights. The Senior Data Analytics Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translates them into technical specifications. This position plays a critical role in enhancing data-driven strategies and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data analytics solutions.

This role, in collaboration with other data engineers, data architects, and IT teams, will operationalize and document data extraction and ingestion platforms, including Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and Azure Data Factory. This role will provide guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers.

Responsibilities

• Leads the development of medallion architecture using Microsoft PowerBI and Fabric.
• Uses tools such as Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and others to extract, transform, and load data into the various layers of our data ecosystem.
• Works with the data governance team and data architects to define and design data solutions to support the Firm’s data initiatives.
• Understands and locates where data assets exist within the Firm’s systems and designs solutions integrating disparate data sources.
• Collaborates with project managers to provide effort estimates and technical leadership in solution design and requirements.
• Prepares mock-up solution designs, visualizations, and reports to effectively demonstrate proposed solutions.
• Acts as a subject matter expert to educate on the Firm’s data platforms and best practices.
• Meets regularly with line of business customers to understand their business processes and evolving data needs.
• Works with data scientists and developers on technologies such as AI and machine learning.
• Ensures data governance principles are followed in day-to-day data usage and solution design.
• Collaborates with various teams to ensure data strategy and technologies meet internal and external requirements.

Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Mathematics, or Statistics preferred.

Experience: Five (5) or more years in a data engineer or similar roles; experience with PowerBI, Tableau, or similar products; proficiency in SQL queries; three (3) or more years in a modern scripting language (Python, Scala, R, JavaScript); experience with version control tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub); experience with commercial cloud platforms preferred.

Skills: Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SQL Server Management Studio, data visualization products; strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; excellent written communication skills; ability to facilitate meetings; ability to handle multiple projects and work well under pressure; ability to work independently and as part of a team; excellent interpersonal and customer relationship skills.

Salary and Benefits

Individual salaries are offered based on qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. National Range: $110,000 - $140,000.
