Office/Studio Based, London

6 Month Fixed Term Contract (maternity cover)

2 Days per week (Monday and Tuesday) with one weekend in 5 and time off in lieu.

Hiring range: £40,000 - £45,000 (pro rated to part time 2 days per week)

Your work matters to millions. This Morning features a broad mix of topical news items and human interest stories. A fantastic opportunity has now arisen to join us as a News Producer. In this varied and busy role, you’ll be involved in the booking of newsmaking guests and exclusives, as well as serious and light-hearted human interest stories.

You’ll need to be a tenacious self-starter with an impressive contacts book and strong relationships with news agencies, freelance journalists, newspapers, ITN, and other media organisations. You will have a journalistic background and excellent knowledge of current affairs, especially of the issues that matter to our viewers. A passion for original story ideas is essential, as ‘This Morning’ takes on the big news of the day.

You’ll need to have an excellent grasp of the Ofcom Broadcasting Code and be proficient in overcoming legal hurdles to produce compliant items. A team player, you will work collaboratively with other members of the Newsdesk and different departments across the programme. Flexibility in work hours including weekends and bank holidays is required.

Requirements

Minimum Criteria:

• A journalistic background and comprehensive knowledge of current affairs
• Excellent grasp of the Ofcom code
• Initiative and tenacity in chasing stories
• Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Ability to perform efficiently under pressure
• Experience in working in a live studio environment

Key Criteria:

• A team player who can work effectively with different departments across the programme
• Being proactive and thinking outside the box to come up with This Morning story ideas
• Confidence pitching stories in meetings
